
ABOUT
Deborah Silliman has worked in communications and marketing for the past 18 years and specializes in graphic design, layout, photojournalism, social media management, and writing. Upon graduating with honors from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, NY, she began her career as a photojournalist at the Cape Cod Times. Since then, Deborah continued to work in publishing, serving as the head designer for a book publisher in Charleston, South Carolina; an art director for a magazine publisher in Phoenix, Arizona; and a textbook designer in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2012, Deborah began working at The University of Texas at San Antonio as a communications specialist. She quickly rose in the ranks and became the senior communications coordinator for the College of Engineering, where she served as the lead staff member of the college's Advisory Council marketing committee, redesigned the college magazine and website, and produced a wide variety of printed, digital and social media marketing for the college.
From UTSA, Deborah moved to one of the largest school districts in San Antonio, Texas, to serve as senior publications editor. She redesigned the District's digital newsletter, wrote numerous stories featuring staff and students, and redesigned Vision, a printed newsletter distributed to 150,000 households in the District's zip code. Deborah also maintained SAISD's social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Deborah currently serves as a communications manager for TNTP, an organization whose mission is "to end the injustice of educational inequality by providing excellent teachers to the students who need them most and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom."
